Considering moving back to Indianapolis.
How is the job market there these days? I';m thinking of finishing up at Ivy Tech to be a medical secretary before making the move.

1. There are jobs
in certain areas and the medical field is one of them. My daughter workes at IU and they hire for all of the hospitals in the IU group. You might try there. Welcome back.

2. Hi
I would get a job before you move back. My brother has worked in the engineering field for 2 decades here and accepted a position in Lexington KY just yesterday. Couldn't find anything local. I gave up looking a year ago and I'm a 20 yr veteran in the IT field.
Good Luck.

3. I'd get a consultant.
After about a year and a half of being out of "true" work (I freelance), I put my resume out online and was literally flooded with calls from both employers and consulting firms. I had a handful of interviews. Things stalled for awhile (one place turned me down) but then a week ago tomorrow (Thursday) I got a call out of the blue from a consultant who said a company needed someone to start Friday. I was sent the screening test the company uses, took it, faxed it back to the consultant, and Friday I got a call back saying that I have an open-ended contract with this firm. I started full-time work this past Monday, and God willing, it will turn into a permanent position.

And the irony is -- it is a position with the company that turned me down a month or so ago.

4. Good for you
Glad you got the job AngryOldDem. There seems to be few jobs open in IT or engineering in Indy but hopefully things will get better. The temp agencies seem to get a lot of jobs that turn into permanent jobs so check there too.
