So what are the political implications of the new dome ?
http://www.indystar.com/articles/6/203568-8686-092.html

$500 MILLION DOLLARS ?? And Irsay's only putting up $100M of it.

Bart said in his press conf today that he wants to fund it with some sort of 'pull tab' lottery profits ... which would essentially mean legalizing gambling (of sorts) in Indianapolis.

Only quote I've heard thus far from Daniels' office is that the whole stadium deal raises 'financial and social' concerns.

Thoughts, ideas, gossip anyone ?

1. Of course, Daniels has to poo-poo and hedge his bets....
...because Mayor Bart might be his opponent in 4 years. Gotta get a jump on the mud slinging and doubt casting.

I would look for Man Mitch to insert the term "family values" somewhere soon in this subject.

As for political implications??? Unless there is a big hitch or problem w/ projected finances (i.e. overly optimistic tax revenues, seriously underbudgeted dome cost, etc.), this will make Mayor Bart look REALLY good.

Except to the Bear fans in NW IN... :)

2. It doesn't make Bart look good in MY eyes ...
I'd rather have a working sewer system, city/county workers making more than minimum wage, and well qualified, well compensated teachers in IPS.

Call me a fool. My priorities are SO out of whack. :spank:

3. With Manning in a record season,
losing the Colts to LA would have meant the end to a potentially great political career for Peterson. He did what he had to do and took care of a problem a lot of Hoosiers cared about. His only alternative was political suicide. If lil mitch keeps complaining we need to start saying that he was against keeping the Colts and is a die hard Redskins fan. He's definitely a Hoggette.

4. The Colts bring in money right now
so the deal looks good right now. Plus, I don't want good things to happen to L.A. The Colts mean prestige for the city, and it's something that Bart can claim, rather than Bitch. And if ol' Bitch is against a new stadium and legalized gambling, that just makes me all the more in favor of it.
