Iowa's Health Care Budget:
How Would You Fund It?
Iowa's health care budget for next year is short of funds, and without new revenue health care services will have to be curtailed and Iowans will lose health care coverage.
To illustrate the severity of the problem, Governor Tom Vilsack and Lt. Governor Sally Pederson have launched a unique website where YOU can decide which programs providing health care to Iowans should be funded and which should be cut in order to balance the state’s health care budget. The website also allows you to raise the cigarette tax by certain levels to see how much additional revenue it would bring in and how many more state health care programs could be funded.
The website is:
http://healthbudget.iowa.gov/ Check it out and decide how YOU would fund Iowa's health care budget and which tough choices you would make to either cut access to health care for Iowa’s less fortunate or raise new revenue by raising the cigarette tax.
Then send it on to someone you know to see how they would fund Iowa's health care programs!
