Debi...
wanna give me a little help here? I'm afraid I won't be able to rationally explain to this person why the caucus system works just fine for us.

1. Again, Debi does our work for us patiently
and with good cheer. I find the caucus system a bit confusing myself.

3. Just bring cookies and hot cocoa and your caucus will be a success
:7

I don't understand the 'math' part of it and am always happy to have somebody explain it (again) to me.

The IDP actually did a great job with this web site http://www.iowafirstcaucus.org/ - it even has a page-by-page caucus guide if anyone is interested in educating the masses out there in DU land.

I rather prefer to pontificate and appear more knowledgeble...you do as you wish.

4. That appears to be a useful site! If my wife doesn't have that
one yet, I'll point it out to her.

2. Thank goodness I know somebody who knows this stuff!
:P

You're doing fine (I especially like the snacks comment - what? No Jell-o shots?)you don't need me to fend off morans who would prefer to tear Iowa down rather than learn about the process.

Whaaaa we don't want to know presidential preferences, we want a hard count that we can call and start spin spin spinning.... Whatever! :eyes:

The poster's comments do bring to light what may be a problem for campaigns that have ignored rural Iowa to only the 'fly-in' areas. If 400 supporters show up to one place where only 5 delegates will be determined it won't help the campaign that has 0 supporters showing up at a place with 3 delegates to be selected. That's why Edwards was smart at pointing out that HE had been to all 99 counties. :hi:

(Now I will sit and wait for the 'Gephardt!!! Gephardt!!! Youtube video to come up, as it always does :eyes:)

5. The caucus process:
the actual process is difficult to describe because there are so many variables like:
1.If the Haweyes are playing
2.How many husbands give permission for their wives to attend
3. How good your neighbor is at "intimidating " you.
4. If the caucus site has appropriate "facilities " in other words..the outhouses must be at least a three hole.
5. How early it gets dark..since we have no electricity in Iowa.

6. You're forgetting that us wymen might be out doing our post-holiday
shopping (as a w/cf courier reporter eluded to) and be too busy to caucus :eye:

Hey, on a serious note - neither Drake or U of Iowa are planning on accomidating students who want to come back and caucus? WTF???

Somebody should be talking to whoever is in charge to get our college campuses more involved (Yea to UNI and ....that other school x(.... for realizing how much of a treasure the caucuses are to Iowa and how important it is to get/keep students interested!)
