Well, other than our need to have 'snacks' ready for the Orange Bowl - and running out to get our men another beer - and keeping the kids quiet as not to interrupt the game...:eyes:

Will it never end?!

1. Well, all I know is...
I'm gonna need some REAL dip with the chips this year.

None of that cheap stuff in a can.

2. Find youthere - I hear she's got a great recipe for Reuben Dip!
We're only doing cookies. I've called all the precinct captains for the candidates and asked them all to bring some. the pc for one campaign said they weren't told to bring food - I responded 'Then don't, I'll ask the other campaigns to help out' :eyes: I guess it's hard for a woman to bring snacks to caucus as well...

3. Linn County - Snack Free
I got a call this weekend to let me know that Linn Co has a no-food policy this year. I was told this was an official event and not a social gathering.

I wasn't really planning on bringing snacks myself, but I was kind of hoping the campaigns would. Boo hoo.

I can't wait til late tomorrow night. Ahhhh.

4. Just got a call from the Edwards office here
we talked about talking points for undecideds/supporters of non-viable candidates - not snacks! Never saw any last time, either.

I'm so excited to have my daughter caucusing along with me!

14. What?
I would put my mother or my wife up against 99.9% of the Iowa males I know in terms of courage and brains any day of the week.

9. I am surprised really...
As the temp caucus chair I figured I'd hear from the campaigns, but so far only Clinton, Biden, and Dodd's people have called to ask about location, time, food, etc.

13. Mr. Debi is the Temp. Chair and we are sharing space w/another caucus
So I called each of the campaigns to get the names and #'s of their precinct captains. Dodd gave me them right away, as did Obama. Edwards said they'd call me back (and haven't) and Richardson said they'd have them call me (they haven't). Biden's wouldn't get breakfast w/out me so that was easy to find him :P and Clinton camp gave me the names but said they didn't have their numbers (?) - So I looked them up myself and made the calls.

5. What the hell? It IS a social gathering
this is party building FIRST - presidential preference is just part of the process.

You don't have coffee/cookies at Central Committee meetings? WTF? Official event?

I'll remember that next JJ or Hall of Fame dinner - NO FOOD, OFFICIAL EVENT. Why the hell do we create a specific committee that arranges for food and drinks at County Convention AT THE CAUCUS? County Conventions aren't OFFICIAL EVENTS?

x( that's just dumb.

10. I'm just the messenger...
I will not be turning anyone away if they show up with a plate of cookies, but if the campaigns ask, that is what I've been told. Strict no food policy due to clean-up/damages and all that.

11. Ohhhh, okay
Damages/clean-up. Now that's different. Our caucus is being held in a place that is usually used for dances, banquets and wedding receptions. But I can see some concern if you're in a school library or classroom.

But to argue against food b/c it's an official party function is just plain bs!

Are you and Avery's mom going to the ID Friday?

7. "They would rather just keep their vote to themselves"
I have noticed a true reluctance and shyness on the part of the women on this board and also with my own wife and friends.

8. Well I ain't a woman
not even close, but my mom, who is 74 years old is a woman. Now they didn't caucus last time because they were out of the state, but this year, they can't go until later because of her health problems. And they are both planning to caucus. Two elderly people, one of them being a little old lady. And they have both said they are not caucusing for HRC either. But the point of all this blathering is that if a little old lady, who is experiencing health problems can caucus, it likely isn't going to be all that hard for younger women to attend. Even those with children. So HRC is full of crap on this one.

15. Yeah I am amazed
At how many people on Fox news are willing to commit to the troops being in Iraq for DECADES if necessary but feel a couple hours once every four years is too much to ask.

17. Hillary does not speak for me
And I'm tired of her playing the gender card. The "You Go Girl" part of her campaign makes me want to hurl.

18. Well, pretty much I get in the car and drive there
Then I walk in and greet other caucus-goers, not so hard at that. I've told any and everyone who will listen that I'm supporting John Edwards. And there will be cookies at our caucus. A great day, Iowa DUers. Let's have some fun and then get out and support the winner(s).
