I'm now convinced Joe's the man.(pics)
Burlington Iowa 9a.m January 2nd

I just saw Joe at the Arts for Living Center. About 150 people braved 8 inches of new snow, 10 above temperatures, and 75 icy steps straight up to be there. I told him I was going to report to Democratic Underground, and he said, "tell them to please come above ground long enough to support us.:)
There were many "undecideds" who I believe came away convinced, and supporters who went away more sure of their choice.
He is such a genuine, passionate, gracious, and humble man! I told him I didn't get his book for Christmas, and he told me to leave my address so he could send me one. It was rather unnerving for me that he spent much of his time sitting on the arm of the pew right next to me.
Of course, he focused much of his talk on foreign policy. I don't believe this makes him a "one trick pony". I think he's correct that getting back our prestige, and reversing * whacked out policies are priority one before progress can be made in any other area. He took a couple of well deserved jabs at Richardson, including his assertion that he can bring everyone out of Iraq in three months. It wasn't negativity, it was more like "bless his naive heart but..." Genuine anger, and negativity were reserved for *.
I feel Joe is most qualified to take action from behind the "big desk" on day one, and that he is going to surprise a lot of people on Thursday night!

Joe's brother- "If I were more important I would get the Secret Service."

10. Thanks for the report dragndust! I am supporting Edwards, but Biden has become
my #2. If Edwards gets the nod I think he would be crazy not to ask Biden to be his VP.

11. love 'em
Jim seems proud as hell and slightly bemused at the whole thing. I chatted with him a bit. He is loving this. I gathered that his job is to (try to) keep Joe on schedule. He parks somewhere waiting patiently with that knowing grin, watching his bro do his thing, checks his watch, then sidles up without saying anything and Joe says "uh-oh, here comes the timekeeper" or some such.

12. Thanks, dragndust. I have a question...
Joe's brother looks to be quite tall in the last picture; looking at the picture of the two brothers together, they seem about the same height. How tall would you say Joe is?

13. From what I could find...
Joe's either 6' or 6' 1". There were conflicting reports.

19. Welcome to the Iowa DU Forum dave123williams
:hi:

Would you please provide me with the statements from Joe Biden about how he's only running for Secretary of State?

And when you do provide me that information, and since you're not a regular in this Forum, we have an agreement here called "Cornfield's Law". Iowa DUers have agreed to not slam other candidates while we promote the candidate we support.

Thanks in advance.

20. Biden himself acknowledges that's what people are talking about where he's concerned...

"You know a lot of people make jokes about me running really running for Secretary of State," he told the crowd who peppered him with questions on foreign policy issues ranging from Russia to the Middle East to Afghanistan. "I'm not. I'm running for President. But I would ask you: 'How many of you are willing to vote for a candidate not able to be Secretary of State?'"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/12/27/joe-biden-dem-rivals-no_n_78511.html

So, my comment really isn't all that out of left field.

And...saying someone would make a good Secretary of State is not a 'slam', as you'd have it. It's a compliment.

Can you feature a Secretary of State Huckabee, or Romney? How about Guiliani?
