Okay Vet31203 , tell us about your candidate
And other 4th District DU members - tell us what you know.

Looks like a primary in the 4th and in the 3rd (I am thankful that there is not one in the 1st :7)

Who all is from the 4th? and who here is from the 3rd and who will you be supporting?

AND PLEASE can Cornfield's Law remain in effect???

1. I have heard 2 for sure candidates in the 4th and one possible one
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 01:25 PM by pstans
The first candidate is Kurt Meyer and I was told that he is a solid candidate.

Meyer lives in Mitchell County and is a graduate of Luther College. He worked on Mike Blouin's campaign in 1976 and was finance chair of John Culver's Senate campaign in 1980. He then started a political consulting firm based in Minneapolis and has done fundraising.

The other candidate is William Meyers from Humboldt. Meyers is a veteran and is younger. He is more of an unknown among the party officials, but he has a lot of info at his website: http://www.meyersforhouse.com.

A primary between Meyer and Meyers would be a little confusing at the ballot box since their last names are basically the same.

The other name that I am hearing is Kevin Miskell of Stanhope. Miskell is the Vice President of the Iowa Farmer's Union and was a big Edwards supporter in north central Iowa.

Check Century of the Common Iowan for updates on this race and the primary in the 3rd district.

3. Of course
William Meyers is a veteran, 33, and is a native of Boone.
He has stunningly in depth ideas about Health care, the economy, and most important to me Veterans affairs
He is set in what he believes in and will not flip flop to gain votes.
Here is his link, I hope you check him out

He is also gathering a large youth following and has gained a very dedicated group of vets (of which, I am very happy to say I am apart of). Remember it is Meyers with an "s" :)

Thank for your time,
Ames Vet

It's a post that Cornfield put up last year to keep us Iowa-DUers from bashing each other's candidates in this forum. Things MAY have gotten a little heated during the 2006 gubernatorial and 1st Congressional District primaries and Cornfield was trying to keep us cordial. It worked! Of course, the negative crap we're seeing in the presidential campaign didn't begin until after the Iowa Caucuses but even ribbing was kept to a minimum - just ask Seth :hi:.
