On the Bill Press show, Sen. Ron Wyden (D - Ore) was discussing
health care. He said that there were six Repub senators ready to challenge their party on this issue and stand for universal health care. He then went on to name them - which is unusual I thought so these guys must be really ready.
First on the list was Chuck Grassley, who, as ranking member of the finance committee, sees our current situation as a huge waste of money.
Well, I can't remember the others. Crapo was one.
Kind of surprised me, shocked actually. Especially after that god-awful prescription drug plan he helped set up. But it is consistent with his stand on SCHIP which Wyden noted.

1. Interesting
I wonder if Grassley is using more common sense because he isn't planning on running for reelection in 2010. He can vote his conscience now.

I say that because last night I attended a legislative forum with our State Senator Larry McKibben. In the past, I find little that I agreed with McKibben on. Last night, there were 4 statements that he made that really surprised. McKibben has all but announced that he is not running for reelection this year.

3. Tom Vilsack, Christy Vilsack
Tom Bedell for starters. Grassley will be up for reelection in 2010. He will be 77 then. Yet he has the perspective of 120 year old.
Anybody got any other possibilities?
