This week's skinny - lots of blah blah blah
Blah blah blah sports stuff

Blah blah blah more 'crap on Governor Culver' stuff (x2)

<snip>

We haven’t seen it in the daily — perhaps we’ve been spending too much time on the sports pages — but another obscure Republican is planning on running against Tom Harkin, who is seeking his fifth term in the United States Senate. Christopher Reed, a small businessman from Eastern Iowa, says, “I am not a politician, I am not a rich elitist. I am someone who wants to be your next senator, so I can represent you with solid conservative principles and true Iowa values.” He joins Cedar Rapids’ equally obscure Steve Rathje in the quest to beat the anything-but-obscure Harkin. At year-end, Harkin had $3,446,622 on hand; Rathje had $58. Reed, who has a Web site but apparently hasn’t announced, has filed no reports.

<snip>

Blah blah blah the end.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

BTW...who's Christopher Reed??
:shrug:

1. Reed
Everything you need to know about Christopher Reed can be found in his "essay" on the site below. He's definitely not he masn of steel. :)

Sorry for the link to a conservative site. I don't think Tom needs to worry. By the way, is "Liberal" still a pejorative? I don't think it carries the negative punch it used to have - it seems silly in his essay.

2. Says he has a successful business and never says what it is
Rather odd I'd say.
A few comments on opponents for Dave. Anyone see any problems for Dave out there?

5. I talked to him recently
Reed is really out of touch. He started attacking that Rathje (spelling?) guy on the conservative blogs. They are both non-starters in what is suppose to be Harkin's easiest race yet.
If Im not mistaken, I believe he beat popular congressmen in each of his last elections... I don't think the GOP will let these guys run on there ticket without throwing them somebody... Look for King to make a decision soon on whether to run or not, I've even heard rumors of Terry Branstad but I dont think thats a possiblity either... It just seems far fetched that there is no real person to challange Harkin, Im not complaining, dont get me wrong, but it just seems strange.

7. Wow...
Grade-A kook there. And he's from SOLON?! I figured there might be a bit of a liberal influence there given its proximity to Iowa City.

This guy is a Steve King wannabe. (Leaving myself open to Debi here...)

3. Reed sounds like a nutjob...
"The Liberals want to turn-tail and surrender in the war on terror because the task seems too hard and not worth the effort. Let us not capitulate to the Liberals. Let us not presuppose this task is too daunting and not worth the battle. Rather, let us rise up and in one strong voice together demand that we will no longer bow at the altar of Tom Harkin and his liberal agenda leading our state down the road to ruination."

snip

"I believe that our enemies must be dealt with harshly and swiftly and not by “talking” to or pleading with them to “just be nice to us.”

---
I rest my case. The first quote is just strange, the second is ridiculous. Heaven for bid we "talk" (whatever that means when in quotes) to our enemies, we all know diplomacy is SO pre-9/11.

Lord have mercy on us all.

9. Ha!
Nice! Yeah he really seems too out of touch to really be serious. I got a feeling he's in it to get his name out and than run for a lower office, with that on his resume.
