Tom Harkin: More than just a senator

We like a senator who makes the most of his time. We especially like a senator who does so by including the perfect pour.

Last night during the Senate recess in between votes, Senator Harkin made the most of his time by dropping by the Guinness Congressional Perfect Pint Challenge event.

Resplendent in his four-leaf clover tie - no joke, his dad was Irish so it's somewhat forgivable - Harkin walked in and poured a perfect pint of Guinness we hear.

Pouring a Guinness, by the way, is a lot harder than it looks and requires a knowledge of a spoon that is typically unknown. Anyway, the judges gave the Iowan a 98 percent score.

1. special spoon
Rambis has such a spoon - he uses it to make Black & Tans at our annual neighborhood backyard party. We should invite Harkin! :)

5. It is an art
to get the dome of foam just right with the white stripe around the top- I know someone that was trained in an Irish pub for over a year to pour the perfect pint.
