Went to my first county convention yesterday!

It was exciting and so wonderful to be around so many like minded people!

Benton County sent 10 delegates for Obama, 7 for Hillary, and 6 for Edwards to state.

Anyway, it was a a great experience.

Black Hawk is sending 63 for Obama, 33 for Clinton and 21 for Edwards (change from caucus 50 for Obama, 33 for Clinton and 30 for Edwards)

5. 2nd Dist

Right now, Edwards is viable at the 2nd District level. I think 90 was needed for viability and the group sent 107. If enough delegates and alternates show up, it is possible that Edwards could remain viable and continue on to state.

That being said, I admit that I've not looked at numbers from the other districts to know how Edwards fared there.

Statewide: Obama won 52%, Clinton 32% and Edwards 16%. There are 16 delegates split up proportionately with Obama nabbing 8 delegates to Clinton's 5 and Edwards' 3.

Cong. District 1 (6 delegates): Obama won 54% to Clinton's 31% and Edwards' 14% (no viability). Obama won these delegates 4-2.

Cong. District 2 (7 delegates): Obama won 51% to Clinton's 30% to Edwards' 19%. Obama won these delegates 4-2-1

Cong. District 3: (6 delegates): Obama won 51% to Clinton's 31% to Edwards 18%. Obama won these delegates 3-2-1.

Cong. District 4: (6 delegates): Obama won 55% to Clinton's 34% to Edwards' 11% (no viability). Obama won these delegates 4-2.

Cong. District 5 (4 delegates): Obama won 47% to Clinton's 37% and Edwards' 15%. Obama won these delegates 2-1-1.

That is why the Edwards campaign want to keep him a viable candidate on the state level.. I know he still has alot of support as many people wanted to be delegate but had to choose to be alternates..

Fallon is fairing well and several people I talk to believe his support is growing..

I think it was Edwards 11, Obama 32 and Hillary 23, but I am not sure.
What I really want to say is - what a turnout! really big! And the speeches were fantastic! We have some great candidates down this way. Loebsack made an appearance and knocked our socks off! He was great! Nate Reichert is becoming very polished and poised and Tom Courtney, as always, gave HELL in the Harry Truman tradition.
Our newest candidate for state senate, Sharon Savage, gave a nice tight very well delivered speech on Democratic ideals. All in all a great round of speeches. Here's hoping Sharon can beat one of the biggest dolts in the state senate, Jim Hahn!

4. Muscatine Co. delegates

Silly rurallib - we only get 32 delegates total!

Here's the count:
Obama: 15
Clinton: 10
Edwards: 7

Oh and kudos to Frank Best on a nice speech, too (candidate for Iowa house district 87). I really hope he can win!
