Drake's Keno Davis to be named head coach at Providence

Providence has scheduled a news conference for 4 p.m. today to name Drake's Keno Davis as its next men's basketball coach.

1. Grab the money and run

This is what I love about college athletics - the loyalty.

Coaches can be fired at the drop of a few games. Why not grab the pot of money while he can? It would be really hard to have another season like that at Drake and his asking price would go down fast. Even Maury John took the loot and moved up the road to ISU after a good year at Drake.

2. I am fine with Davis leaving, but it was poor that he missed the recognition day at the capital

The Drake team was recognized at the State Capital yesterday and Davis was absent. If you are going to take another job that is fine, but you should at least be with your team when they are being recognized for their great season.
