Remember those floods in Iowa this summer?
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 08:51 PM by rurallib
Well guess what? Bushco is being its usual incompetent self sending recovery funds to Iowa. Guess what? We have a Democratic governor. Looks like the same game they played in Louisiana - tying funds up in bullshit red tape and then blaming the Deocratic governor for not following protocol blah, blah blah.
We went to a fund raiser where Governor Chet Culver spoke and he got visibly agitated as he spoke about the BS he has had to put up with from the Dept of HUD. Funds are tied up and they refuse to do anything about it.
Culver said he tried to call them on a weekday this week at 3:30 central time (4:30 edt). First he got a recording. When it dumped off to a recorder, the message box was filled.
Well guess who will be blamed when it gets cold and Iowans are still without homes and heat? Bushco is betting it will be Culver.

1. That figures
And BushCo and company love spreading the fiction that the reason Iowa didn't turn into a second Katrina was because the people in Iowa were more sufficient (in other words, they weren't black and/or poor). Bull. It's because FEMA knew the Democrats were watching this time and that there would be sixteen different kinds of hell to pay if Iowa became a second Katrina.

4. Just got back from a Biden event
and he said that he and Obama had made a promise to Tom Harkin and Leonard Boswell (Boswell was at the event) & that they were going to keep that promise and when Congress reconvenes they will be voting to ensure Iowa gets the money it needs. At least somebody can hear us
