==============================================
From Iowa City, Iowa, a friend of mine writes:

"I saw am interesting omen last night. They've closed the local McCain
campaign office. I go by there once or twice a week and I noticed last
night that it appeared to be empty. I double checked this AM and, indeed, it
appears abandoned."

True it is Iowa City, but certainly a good sign. Hope to see the college republicans in their minivan at the parade Friday.

edit to add: someone just posted a thread on Iowa from fivethirtyeight.com:

2. Good riddance...
And I'd say to McCain and Palin not to get their noses caught in the door when leaving.

3. And stay out!
Probably a good idea for the McCain camp. Looks like IA is pretty much wrapped up for Obama. :)

4. You know, I'm not even sure McCain has an office here in Davenport
The repubs do, but I don't remember seeing a specific McCain office. A few signs, but no office. And I guarantee there will be no repub office anywhere near my place. Too diverse of a neighborhood.

5. I don't think Dubuque has one either
The GOP has an office here in Dubuque - an old bank building by K-Mart which is festooned with signs for every GOP candidate in the area. But McCain's campaign having their own office - I don't think so. And the McCain signs on yards here in Dubuque are few and far between, as are people who feel a need to stick McCain/GOP stuff on their vehicles.
