Someone hung a McCain sign on a utility pole

This morning I was in Dubuque and saw where some genius had hung a McCain sign from a utility pole on West 3rd Street just north of Bluff Street. Way up at the top - so the aforementioned genius obviously climbed to the top to put that thing on the pole. I called the public works dept and left a message - I think that sign will be coming down pretty quickly. I didn't have a camera with me or my cell phone so I don't have a picture here.

Isn't that against the law or something to be putting that kind of crap on utility poles? I wonder if someone's caught in the act by a passing patrol car how much money they could be gifting to the government and/or how long they'd be a guest of the county? If that idiot had hit an electrical line he could've gotten hurt and knocked out power to probably everyone on that street all at once.

1. Generally speaking it is against the law to put campaign stuff on public property

Usually in the city that means behind sidewalks. Poles would be included. Out in the country it is usually the line defined by utility poles. Around here Repugs usually ignore any such laws.

He said the sign was coming down today. And to call the police if I happened to see anyone in the act of putting that crap up on the utility poles.
