Iowa Republicans imploding?
Republican Demand
Written by Charles Potter

Local Republicans are demanding the ouster of a top party official.

Leading Republicans in Muscatine County are calling for a change in the party's top leadership. Members of the Muscatine County Republican Central Committee Executive Team have sent a letter to the Iowa Republican Party Central Committee demanding the removal of Kim Lehman from the Central Committee and as Iowa's Republican National Committeewoman.

The letter says Lehman in her role as the President of the Iowa Right to Life Coalition is actively working against Republican candidates -- specifically Second District Congressional candidate Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks of Ottumwa.

One of the letter's signers is Representative Jeff Kaufmann of rural Wilton. He says an article by Lehman that claims Miller-Meeks is not a candidate that the Right to Life Coalition should support is based on innuendo and wrong information.

Other signers of the letter demanding Lehman's removal include State Senator Jim Hahn, Legislative candidate Bob Howard, Muscatine County Auditor Leslie Soule, Muscatine County Attorney Gary Allison, Muscatine County Republican Co-Chairs Mike Gaeta and Bob Bahn, Muscatine County Republican Women President Marilyn Wedel (way-dull), and Greg Baker and John Anderson from the Iowa Federation of College Republicans.

1. Tee hee hee!!!
Perfect timing!

Something similar to this happened in Sioux City (except after the 06 election). Moderates were ticked off at the way the uber-right were dominating their party.
