Grassley looked like he was - uh - attached to Palin. Don't know if it was the camera angle or what. Very odd.
Saw it on CSPAN replay of her appearance today.
Gee, I hope we can get rid of Chuckles in 2 years.

1. It did look very odd indeed. Must have been a very small stage
or so I charitably imagine. I watched it to savor the last historical remnant of the most bizarre US presidential campaign that I can remember.

2. I hope either
A. Grassley decides to retire at the end of the current term and we get a good Democrat in to replace him.
B. Or if Grassley decides to run again we get someone who'll put up more than a token effort.

3. Iknow he is not popular here but I think Vilsack could take
Grassley's seat easily if Chuck decides not to run. I'd love to have that 60th seat then.

I'm hoping Grassley decides being in the minority is no fun adn hangs it up. Though he might realize he can hold the seat for his party until things become more favorable to his party.

5. In defense of Art Small in 2004 - he stepped in so Grassley had opposition
and in his day Art was one of the best leaders Iowa Democrats had. A good speaker and very bright mind. I have admired Art all my life.

6. I did vote for Mr. Small in 2004
But I don't remember him doing any serious campaigning at the time. I think the only commercials Grassley even fielded were the ones where he had gone and attached two regular mowers to a bar which he hooked on to his riding mower so he could cut more grass at once. I'm hoping whoever decides to run next time will put up more than token opposition if Grassley runs again.
