Iowa may change how electoral votes are pledged.
The Iowa Legislature is considering changing how electoral votes are counted. In the proposal moving through the Senate now Iowa would award electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote no matter who won in Iowa. The proposal would take effect only after enough other states representing 270 electoral votes had also changed how their electoral votes are counted.

Thoughts?

1. Then what would the point of an electorial college be then?
Just go to a national popular vote. Elect the president the same way we elect any other political position.

2. It would just be a formality then
The electoral college would just be a formality then. Maybe that would provide the incentive for an amendment to go forward getting it out of the Constitution altogether.

3. agreed...the whole idea of the electoral college is undemocratic
The popular vote of a state can be overturned by a partisan member of the electoral college.
