IA CONGRESSMAN: FAIRTAX WOULD CREATE JOBS
http://kma960.com/localnews.asp (Washington, D.C.) - Southwest Iowa Congressman Steve King is reacting to President Barack Obama's speech to the nation, saying "Throughout our nation's history, the resolve and hard work of the American people pulled America through trying times, including challenges similar to those we currently face.
King feels that President Obama understands that America's strength is its people, but that his proposals show a lack of confidence in the free-market system that can keep America a strong and prosperous country. The 5th District Congressman says bigger government, more wasteful Washington spending, new bailouts for bad decisions and tax increases will not create good-paying jobs or stimulate the economy.
King believes now is the time for innovative solutions that stimulate long-term growth without forcing our grandchildren into more debt. King would like to see the income and production taxes eliminated, and to see the FairTax enacted. The FairTax would be a national sales tax that King feels would grow the private sector and create new, good-paying jobs, putting American taxpayers back in control thus jumpstarting our economy.
