Comments on ISC decision on marriage today?

Since they based their decision on the constitution I don't see how they could have ruled otherwise.
Any chance a constitutional amendment may get introduced this session? I thought I had heard that Murphy was not in favor of doing that.
BTW the amendment process for those who don't know.

A. Amendments need to be approved by simple majorities in both the House and Senate in two consecutive general assemblies, then must be approved by a simple majority of voters in the next general election. Each general assembly lasts for two years. This year is the second year of the current general assembly. That means if an amendment is approved this year and in the 2009 or 2010 legislative session, it can be on the general election ballot in November 2010. If lawmakers wait until 2009 to start the amendment process, the earliest that a proposed amendment could reach voters is November 2012.

11. Had a pretty decent crowd in Iowa City considering the short notice.

I was really afraid there may have been some freepers try to cause something, but all went very well. I am guessing @ 300, but I am notoriously bad guesser at crowds.

Besides I read in the DMR that Gronstal said he won't allow it.

6. Iowa has had but 46 amendments in its history

and the last two were in the early 90s. It took literally decades to amend an amendment to give equal rights to women along with men. So those who are running around thinking they can roll this back tomorrow are full of shit.
BTW - how many of Iowa's SC judges were put on by Braindead?

9. I'm damn proud to be an Iowan

I always have had a great deal of pride in our great state, but now even more. Once and for all, maybe we can shed that "rube, redneck" image we have had for so long.
And my gay neighbors across the street are drunk right now. They are having a huge party. I told them that they better invite me to the wedding, or no gifts for them. Lol.
