Righties want 'the people' to decide marriage equality
I sent several emails yesterday. In them I reminded folks that if the bill of rights were now put up for a vote of 'the people' it would fail miserably. 'The people' would be fear mongered into giving away all their rights. It has practically happened already.
I also reminded one man of god/legislator (who told me this must be fixed because it is a sin) that about 2,000 years ago a gutless governor allowed 'the people' to decide the guilt or innocence of a man who had done nothing. 'The people' chose death by crucifixion.
We have three equal branches for a reason. The founding fathers feared a too powerful single branch or even two branches in cahoots. So three branches were created to act as a check of potential unchecked power.

1. Oh you libruls don't understand anything.
Here's how it works. When supreme courts rules they way conservatives want, they are doing their constitutional duty.

When they rule in our favor, they are activist judges usurping the law.

2. But what will they say about Vermont?
Seems to me that the same arguments can't/won't apply there.

Discrimination, even when it is popular, is still discrimination.

Luckily it's a junk email account that I don't used much (I use it for all the crap that I don't care about).

Save marriage in Iowa!

Urgent: Contact your state legislators to support HJR 6 -- the Iowa Marriage Amendment

April 7, 2009

Dear xxxx,

Following the decision of the Iowa Supreme Court ruling Iowa marriage laws unconstitutional, the only recourse is for the Legislature to put HJR 6, the Iowa Marriage Amendment, on the ballot to be voted on by all Iowans. Now it is up to we the people to show our legislators that they must let us vote on a constitutional amendment. This decision isn't only about "moral issues," this is a breach of the constitutional separation of powers! The Iowa Supreme Court has attempted to make law - which is not the role of the judicial branch.

etc etc etc... :puke:

7. Let us vote ... sure, but
But the amendment should really protect marriage by not only denying marriage equality, but also outlawing divorce, limiting Iowa residents to merely 1 marriage per lifetime, and keep old people from marrying as they cannot procreate. Also, I would add that Mormans should be denied marriage as they are not a real religion, but rather a cult that believes in magic underwear and Missouri being the place of the Garden of Eden - beliefs that endanger children.
