King's comments
I have to think Culver's stance on marriage equity (the total "about face") was driven by King's comments. I know if I were the "big lug," I'd be absolutely thrilled at the chance to face the king in the 2010 general election.

Another question...how many states would approve inter-racial marriages today, if it were put to a vote? The right thing is seldom the most popular.

1. Jeez, Chet, way to stand tall?
http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20090408/NEWS10/904080365

Is there a spine in this guy?

"Therefore ... I am reluctant to support amending the Iowa Constitution to add a provision that our Supreme Court has said is unlawful and discriminatory,"
Good lord Culver, how tough is it to say (as Gronstal did) that discrimination is wrong and has no place in the Iowa constitution.

And then he ducked reporters?
-Culver's office released the written statement about 4 p.m. The governor has declined to answer questions from reporters.-
I sure am glad that whole slavery thing has been decided. I don't see many politicians around that could stand up for what is right.

2. Let me add, I doubt King will run
My impression of King is that he is like many wingers. He is a chicken hawk (talks a great war, never fights) or in this case a chicken shit. He won't give up his cushy secure job to run a highly contested race. He will only get in everything else goes to hell and Culver will lose no matter who runs against him. I don't see that happening.

3. Yeah, I don't see King giving up his seat
on a bid for governor. Even the Rethugs ought to be smart enough to learn from history - you think they'd be looking at what happened to Nussle.

The primary would be quite the circus, though, wouldn't it, King, Rants and Vander Putz.
