CR Pastor Says Gay Marriage More Damaging than the Flood

CEDAR RAPIDS – One Cedar Rapids pastor says the gay marriage ruling is a bigger disaster than last June's flood.

Northbrook Baptist Church Pastor Eric Schumacher wrote an article saying Iowa's decision to allow gay marriage will cause "irrevocable damage" to society.

Schumacher's article says, "Flood waters erode the soil. 'Gay marriage' erodes the soul."

About six or seven years ago, as they really hit their stride and I had some time, I took some time to re-examine my beliefs. Having been brainwashed for 12 solid fucking years of catholic schools, it is just a little hard to toss the daddy-in-charge concept.

The Iowa Supreme Court has recently ruled that banning the marriage of two people of the same sex is unconstitutional. This is the single most ridiculous decision that our Supreme Court has ever ruled upon. It is also the single most damaging blow to ward destruction of our once proud society. The decision by our Iowa Legislature to take no action against this ruling seems to be the final deathblow to morality in our state. Using the “equal rights” argument in order to justify this decision is ludicrous.

Homosexuals have always had the very same rights as everyone else. They are also expected to control their immoral desires just the same as everyone else. The children, who grow up in the homes of practicing homosexuals, are learning to believe that this practice is good and “normal”. How are we expected to save our children now? The Iowa Department of Human services, and their Child Protection Division workers will certainly be hard pressed in their quest to protect our children from learning immoral behavior. If the Iowa Legislature and the Iowa Supreme Court believe that immorality is ok, then is the rest of the Iowa population expected to stand by like sheep? No I say. We must rally together, and demand that our Iowa state legislature take immediate action against this dangerous Supreme Court decision.

8. I have an acquaintance whose

first marriage ended in divorce because her husband could no longer keep up the charade of being heterosexual.

I wish those who are so certain that same sex marriage causes "irrevocable damage" could hear the pain in this lady's voice as she told how much the end of this marriage had hurt her.

9. One thing about kids in a single sex home....

THEY ARE ALL WANTED!! In a home where there is a single-sex marriage (whether male OR female) there are NO "accidental" pregnancies.

How many heterosexual marriages have ended, because there wasn't a choice in getting married, due to pregnancy?? And how many kids are "unplanned", and in one way or another, suffer because of it? These are rhetorical questions, I realize, but its also food for thought. I guess if I had a choice, between growing up with 2 fathers or 2 mothers, or being basically unwanted....I'd gladly choose the single sex family.
