John Edwards to speak in Iowa in August (in my hometown!)

I live in Marshalltown and will surely try and attend. I am not a huge Edwards fan, but since it is here I might as well go.

I checked the website and there isn't a place to register to just hear Edwards speak, so maybe you have to pay the $30 for the convention to be able to attend. I am going to check and see if there is anyway to just go to the Keynote speech and pay less $. I will keep you updated.

7. I never said anything bad about Edwards

I just meant that I didn't support him in the primaries and thought there could have been better choices for VP. I think the Democratic Party would have been better off if Edwards ran for re-election and was still a Senator.

I'd vote for Edwards over any Republican anyday, but that doesn't mean I have to go Gaga over him.

2. I was just in Marshalltown!

Both of my parents grew up in Marshalltown, and I was there in the first week of July for a family reunion (on my father's side).Before my husband and I left, I insisted we stop at Taylor's Maid-Rite. Boy, prices sure have gone up!

3. Marshall County Republicans

I served as an election observer in Marshalltown last November to make sure that hispanic voters were not kept from voting. The Marshall County Republicans had police officers called to the voting stations throughout the day to make it more difficult for hispanics to vote. They also tried to stop hispanics who did not speak english from having interpreters from the local community college help read the ballot for them. It was a very disturbing day that I will never forget. I could not believe I was in Iowa and have that happen.

I am an Edwards fan. He is always a good speaker. I hope Elizabeth comes along.
