Uninsurable. What a shame. The river was so much part of her charm. Looking for a new spot for the beautiful lady. Some of the choices are truly comedic.

1. Any talk of where it my be relocated? |
|
I assume it will be rebuilt someplace. Our daughter was here from Illinois today and we drove her by the building. Pretty sad. Some great stuff happened there.

To me Hubbard Park (the park to the south of the Union) is the most asinine. There's talk of placing it just up the hill on Park Road. Seems to make the most sense.

4. Possible locations for Hancher |
|
Like Condem said, I read that there were eight possible sites. One is the field just up the street where the band practices. Another is directly to the north and the west of where Hancher currently sits. It's up on the hill rather than on a low spot right by the river where Hancher currently sits. I like that spot best. It would be just behind Levitt and maintain the sense of an "Arts Campus". And there would still be parking.
Hubbard Park is a disastrous choice. They should leave that as green space for the students. Besides, parking at the IMU is already pretty tight. I think three of the other choices are further south - past Burlington Street. It's kind of ugly back there.
My understanding is that University administration already has a first choice clearly in mind and that they are due to present it to the Regents at the meeting in June.

5. I suspect they want to keep it near campus. |
|
They have quite a bit of property to the west of IC I believe. But it sue seems that to remove it that far from campus would make Hancher seem like it doesn't really belong. The spots south of Burlington on first thought seem to be a decent fit + it would spiff up the neighborhood down there.

6. Pretty industrial down there , rural |
|
The transportation and USB buildings are there. Plus the view across the river is awful. A used car lot and the Dairy Queen. A tough call. I know if they move it up Park Rd, the Manville Hghts. denizens will scream.

7. And you would think near the music/arts part of campus. |
|
I'll have to call the kid tonight and see what she's heard.

8. Okay. I believe it's down to two spots. |
|
They move it just up the hill by the Levitt Center. The parking lot becomes where the current Hancher sits. Obviously, the most popular choice. The second choice is down south of Burlington Street. NOBODY wants that. It will be choice A.
