Ok oldsters, who remembers this band?
Remember Patrick Hazell and the Mother Blues Band? Some of the wildest "freestyle" music ever played in our great state. The inspiration for Blues Societies all over the Midwest and across this great land. And the spawn of some great musicians, Blues or otherwise. How about Bo Ramsey, Joe Price, Rick Cicalo, Steve Hayes, and Sally Weisenburg? Ah...those were the days.
Sorry about a non political post, but sometimes we just need to kick back and remember the roots. And if one wants to put it in political terms, Ramsey is a tireless anti war activist and virtually all of the fans of the late great Mother Blues Band are Liberals.

1. Yes...I knew some
Right up front I am not a big Blues fan.....no problem with it though.

Patrick Hazell and Rick Cicallo were from my home town of Washington.....I loved to listen to Patrick. I also loved his wonderful letters to the editor that were published in the DMR.

A few years ago Rick ran for Mayor. I still remember him walking from door to door. I asked him to come in and I grilled him. He answered without a stutter......I was sold. I thanked him and grabbed my checkbook.....his face got red and he said his wife told him to ask for donations, but he just couldn't get himself to do it. We became friends through the campaign and he won. It's unfortunate he passed away at an early age a few years ago. He was a one of a kind who left his mark on a small town in a profound way.........

2. I wish.
I never get to see enough good music anymore. The last "local" blues band I saw was Bobby's Blue Band (Bod Dorr) in the 80's.

Ugh, I just got one of those feelings again...
...like I'm getting old. :eyes:

3. Patrick Hazell is great!
We saw him mostly in IC during our college days - I always requested "Key to the Highway."

4. Holy crap - I just checked out the PH website
I found this band lineup from 1975 - I actually know a couple of these people! LOL!
I met them much later, as I was only 9 in 1975. :)

1975
Fletcher Henderson "Sonny" Lott----drums
David Silverstone---bass
Mike Pearson----road manager
Mary Fickle ---vocals
Rick Cicalo-----bass

I still see Sonny Lott around IC from time to time.

p.s. is it lame to reply to oneself?
