Great ending for Grassley Town Hall in Afton Aug. 12, 2009 video
From C-Span

Lady said United Methodists Conference had voted to support a public option, health care was not a commodity to to be sold to the biggest bidder, and the insurance bureaucracy was no more trustworthy than any other bureaucracy.

Lady compares U.S. to 1930's Germany and off camera a man yells BULL and later RACIST. No video of him being asked to leave and he did.

at 46 min

My way-better-half asks about Under-insured and pre-existing condition denials. Follow-up questions hard to hear but 1st was "Do you favor a fed. regulation" next was "Will that raise everyones premiums?" and last "mandate?"

1. Thank you for going to this.
I'm not sure I could have done that without screaming. That was a great statement at the end.

2. Wow, the lady at the end was great.
We need more of her on TV and less of the kind of crazies at 28 minutes.

3. The odds of beating Grassley next year look astromonical
Edited on Mon Aug-17-09 12:11 AM by costahawk1987
But the next year of my life is dedicated to accomplishing it--no matter who runs against him (although it would be nice to score a big name to challenge him). He disgraces our state. I'm sick of looking at him. I'm sick of hearing about him. I'm sick of his "Twitters." And I'm sick of that damn car he drives to every one of our counties.

4. welcome to DU and I am with you on Grassley
While we don't have a name against Grassley as yet we do have a couple of really dedicated candidates in Tom Fiegen and Bob Krause. Do whatever you can to get their names out.
Also Grassley's negatives are way higher than they have ever been and are actually nearing that magic 50% mark (40% last I saw). So he is beatable but it will be one hell of a task.
I have been a volunteer part of one of the most unlikely, could never happen upsets in Iowa history when "Who the hell is Dave Loebsack?" beat Jim Leach in 2006. At this point in Dave's campaign things were about this bleak.
Grassley is his own worst enemy. Note that he is really playing to the base this year which is only about 30% of Iowans.
