As many of you know there was a robbery at a Dubuque area tavern, which was followed by a shootout with an officer who arrived to confront the suspects.
Terry Tobin, Acting Police Chief in Dubuque, says after the men left the bar, one took off on foot. That's when the other man exchanged gunfire with Lt. Scott Baxter. Both were injured. At this point we don't know who fired the first shot.
A release by Dubuque Police says Lt. Baxter is in good condition. A witness tells TV9 that she saw Lt. Baxter get shot in the leg.
The suspect who was shot underwent surgery and remains in intensive care.
Police are looking for the second suspect, last seen on foot heading south on Central Ave. He's described as a 20-30 year old black male, 5'5"-5'9" tall, wearing dark jeans with stitching or a pattern on the pockets and white, or light tennis shoes. The suspect may no longer be wearing tan Carhart style hooded coat, as a similar one was found in the area.

If the comments left on the KCRG site are any indication every racist and teabagger out there is probably busily pontificating on this incident. At least the TH has the good sense after what happened a couple years ago not to allow comments on stories like this because it's not worth the trouble.
