Went to a Grassley meeting in Muscatine
There was some humor. Like the guy who wanted to know why the Republican party wasn't attracting more Hispanic voters. (look around the room, bozo - 60 people here and they are all white than white. 4 liberals)
Or the guy who claimed that all elected Democrats were members of the Communist party - he had a web site.
The four liberals had a chance to ask questions, but don't expect an answer.
What made me mad when I asked about the 45,000 deaths per year Grassley could come back with how bad the Senate bill was and I could not argue with him - it stinks.

Some RW asshole immediately afterwards asked me to name one. A friend of mine who I did not know was there had an SIL who died of breast cancer. She did not go to the doctor until stage 4 because she had no insurance. The asshole made some comment and my friend almost went after him. This is a subject that makes my friend see red.

Folks whatever you do this year, do anything and everything to help remove Grassley from office. Do not rest until this man can no longer fuck us over.
Letters to the editor, calls to call in shows (even though you probably won't get on), contribute time and money to Roxanne, Tom or Bob. One of them will be given the task of removing this cancer.

1. He had a call in show
On Mediacom and I tried calling him. The screener wouldn't let me talk though because "The Senator has already discussed the health care issue". I said, "fuck it, goodbye."

2. Is it Conlin who is running?
I should double check before I post but I'm pretty sure she's one of the candidates for his seat. I agree, I used to tolerate Grassley because he's a good watchdog on some issues but lately he's towing the party line too much and starting to come off like more of a bozo. Time to go

3. Tom Fiegen, Bob Krause and Roxanne Conlin
There are three candidate currently. My fav is Tom Fiegen. Roxanne was the 'mystery' candidate who has been courted by the party. She has money and some name recognition.
Grassley a watch-dog? At least according to his myth. His true nature has been revealed with the ascesion of Bushco.

4. curious about all 3
hopefully they start getting out soon so I can hear more about them.
My only early issue is Fiegen criticizing Conlin for the republicans starting to jump on her, saying she shouldn't let her personal problems get in the way of this, especially when they are purposely lying about how much she made off the Microsoft judgement recently.
Am hopeful for all 3.

Grassley has always been one to back the rights of whistleblowers, even went to bat for a couple during a case involving a large energy company a few years back? He's done a few other things but we are still on same side, he needs to go now

5. Yet when Grassley had a chance to stand up for Sybel Edmonds
He made a big pronouncement and disappeared. Some of his buddies were about to be implicated.

6. I can name one
I gentleman I used to work with was denied a bone marrow transplant for his rare form of cancer for several months. By the time he had the transplant it was too late. He may have died anyway, but the insurance company made sure of it.
