I was wondering why Branstadt kept going on about Brenna Findley
last week on the Iowa Press show. We watch during commercials on Olbermann. Seems like every time we switched Branstadt was turning the conversation to Brenna Findley.
Bleedingheartland has a very interesting story on this:

=========================================================================================
Republican gubernatorial candidate Terry Branstad has become the most prominent booster of Brenna Findley, the GOP candidate for Iowa attorney general. Branstad brings up Findley's candidacy "in every speech" while campaigning around the state. He also talked up her candidacy on Iowa Public Television's Iowa Press program and in the first gubernatorial candidates' debate.

Findley has an unusual resume for an attorney general candidate. A longtime staffer for Representative Steve King, and before that for Iowa statehouse Republicans, Findley hasn't practiced law in some time. According to Cityview's Civic Skinny, Findley doesn't even hold an active license to practice law in Iowa. She doesn't seem to have a firm grasp of the attorney general's job either. Her campaign began with a focus on job creation and has since shifted to the alleged unconstitutional nature of health insurance reform.

Interesting that the GOP AG candidate for attorney general doesn't have an active law license.

1. Ugh. A Steve King staffer.
Well, thats probably a play for Terry to gain some of the ubber conservatives support. But it's a pretty scary thought having her in there.

From her website:

Brenna Findley is a conservative, hardworking attorney from Dexter, Iowa. Raised and homeschooled on a farm near Dexter in Dallas County, she was an active 4-Her. She got her start early by volunteering on local campaigns and serving as a Page at the Statehouse before attending Drake University in Des Moines. She graduated with honors from Drake with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History and a minor in Russian while working full-time to pay her tuition.

After Drake, she went to law school to stand up for the Constitution. Findley attended the University of Chicago Law School. While at the University of Chicago, she served as Symposium Editor of The University of Chicago Law School Roundtable, a law journal. She understands what it takes to create jobs. She helped entrepreneurs on Chicago’s south side start their own businesses while volunteering at the Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship. Upon graduation from law school, she worked in private practice where she focused on helping companies create jobs and litigation to fight fraud.

Findley has served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Steve King (R-Kiron) since his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2003. She manages the daily operations and budget for his six offices, all legislative and constituent services and staff and serves 32 counties in western Iowa. Findley also serves as King’s senior advisor on judiciary issues. In her work with the Judiciary Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, she deals with many of the most pressing legal issues of the day, working to bring accountability and transparency to government and defends the principles of our Constitution. Every day, she helps hard-working Iowans navigate through unnecessary governmental red tape.

Findley is a member of All Saints Church in Stuart. She spends her free time trying new recipes, reading and quilting.

2. I know! yuck!
I got a phone survey a few weeks ago about Brenna What's-her-name.

It asked if I'd heard of her (I hadn't), it asked if I would vote for Tom Miller (I would), it asked about my favorability ratings of a bunch of people: Culver (so-so), Miller (thumbs up), Steve King (LOL - yeah right - how LOW a rating can I give?).

The survey then asked if I would view Brenna favorably if I knew she had been a Steve King staffer - again, LOL!! She doesn't actually have any kid of chance, does she?

3. View her more favorably? Ha! That's a laugh
Sounds like someone is wondering if it is worth it to be associated with Mr. wacky.

5. Live
It was a real person, and I was pretty clear that I do not favor Republicans in general, and Steve King in particular. The caller didn't really react...I'm sure they're trained to be passive.
