Please consider contacting Iowa DNR Director Rich Leopold about this. Thanks!

Despite heated and organized community opposition, on June 24, the Scott County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to recommend that the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
approve a construction permit for a proposed 9,500-head a year cattle factory farm on the border of Cedar and Scott County.
If built, this factory farm will consume more than 200,000 gallons of water a day, produce more than 11 million gallons of toxic manure a year, threaten the already-impaired Mud Creek, Wapsipinicon and Mississippi Rivers, and possibly even contribute to the "Dead Zone" in the Gulf of Mexico.
We won an important July 22 meeting with Iowa DNR Director Rich Leopold, the top environmental regulator in the state, and will ask him to deny the factory farm operators a construction permit for this site prior to the August 2 deadline.
