LOL. As bars suffer because of the piece of shit 21 Law, a little ray of sunshine today from Des Moines. http://www.press-citizen.com/article/20100720/NEWS01/100720003/1079 The irony. The hideous IC Press Citizen, which has made this issue their obsessive little war, has to print this. Strike this as a shot for business and for everybody who remembers college and what it was like to be 19. Let's just hope the bars can weather this dead summer. Many of them are in deep shit.

1. Iowa City has been at war with university students for as long as I can remember
It has always amazed me that those who live in Iowa City often have such disdain for the student. It is almost as if they don't realize that Iowa City exists because of the University.
I keep thinking someday the town elders will actually engage the students in some form of dialogue to try to sort things out. Some have been tried and usually quickly aborted.

2. Interesting, rural.
Having dinner with happyiowan (my wiff) and I broached the subject of a class action suit against the council by the bar owners. Look for it in the coming weeks.

3. It's the same in Ames
It's the same way in Ames, as a matter of fact it seems to be that way in pretty much every college town, students are looked down on as sort of second-class citizens.

4. They're going after the Magic Bus too
And tailgating in general. There are a lot of really pissed off Hawkeye fans around town.
