Wild RAGBRAI party shut down

CARTERSVILLE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say they shut down a wild party at a private pond in Cartersville on the RAGBRAI bike tour route after swimmers started taking off their clothes.

Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Kevin Pals says "one out of every 10" of the thousands of people estimated to be at the pond Wednesday were either not wearing shorts or were topless.

Pals says many partyers were "alcohol-impaired," but there were no arrests.

They are staying in Waterloo IA (I'm in Cedar Falls. which held the Ragbrai stop a few years ago) next to an old college of mine with a nice big beer tent. Better watch those summer college kids. Hope they are over 21 :P

Not sure if they'll find a pond except at the water park but the kids are around for that. But come on. let em have a party... maybe it'll rain. (unlikely tonight but never know)

I grew up in Iowa and we hardly ever wore swim trunks.

5. Proud to say I was there

but apparently before the rampant nudity broke out. We saw a couple of flashes and someone got pantsed. Guess it got wild after we left? thought we left around 2:00. The pond was really nice, the beer was really cold and the proceeds went to a good cause. The unincorporated community was raising money to buy a new school bus.
