Help with a Grassley quote?
Would anybody have a link to the exact wording of something Grassley said a couple years ago, when someone asked him about outsourcing jobs to China, and he said something to the effect that he thought Americans ought to accept wages more similar to the Chinese? Or maybe an idea of what to Google to find it?

Do you remember what I'm talking about, or am I just going nuts in my old age?

thanks!

1. I sort of remember it
Like you, I can't remember the exact wording though. So if you are going nuts in your old age, so am I.

2. Thanks for confirming that I didn't imagine it
I think I'm going to have to start a file of "Stupid Crap Rethugs Say". Seems like it'd be useful on numerous occasions.

3. Hope you have enough room on your hard drive
With all the stupid stuff they say, it may take a LOT of space. And if you try to write it all down you may kill off an entire forest.

4. From the great rurallib " Gleanings from a Grassley appearance"
Edited on Wed Apr-06-11 05:51 PM by IADEMO2004
- statement from the crowd: I don't want national health care. Why should my money pay for people that practice bad habits? (Oh how I wanted to shout "you already do you idiot")
- after a statement about the debt to the Chinese (which Grassley brushed off as 'insignificant') the questioner stated 'something has to be done about the difference in wages between the US and China.' And then he said (i kid you not) 'we need to bring the US wages more in line with the Chinese.'

That has chapped my ass every day since.

edit to add

What would an audio or video of that be worth?

5. Rurallib, if anyone could come through with it, I knew it would be you.
Thanks a million. (just don't ask a million what).

Audio or video would be worth a billion, I guess. (a billion what?)

Just thought it would be useful to trot out when regressives say, "No, the 1% don't want everybody to have to live on less than minimum wage". Every once in awhile, they're honest about it, like Grassley was. But the Rethugs believe that no one has a memory, or the internet, etc.

That quote has irked me ever since too.
