Especially with Terry Braindead
sucking up to Paul Ryan;
Republican Gov. Terry Branstad on Monday offered heaping praise for U.S. House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan for bravely offering ideas to tackle the country's mushrooming national debt.
"I have been very impressed with this young man," Branstad said of the Wisconsin Republican. "I think he has great courage. Nobody of either party has had the guts to stand up and say, 'We need to take on entitlements.' I think this is the first real effort to do something significant about it."
At the same time, Branstad sharply criticized Gingrich, Obama and U.S. Senate Democrats for playing politics with the issue and attacking Ryan for his plan, which among other things would turn Medicare into a voucher program, rather than offering alternatives.
"That's why a lot of Republicans were not happy with Gingrich, because here's the first person that stepped forward and said, 'I've got an idea.' And this is a comprehensive idea. It will reduce the national debt," Branstad said. "The other people are still playing politics. If we continue to play politics, the country's going to go down the drain while we play politics."
Go to hell, Terry, and take Ryan with you.
