The Occupy Iowa protests that resulted in mass arrests at the state Capitol over the weekend has received official sanction to maintain a 24-hour presence there.
The Iowa Department of Administrative Services granted an event permit to Occupy Iowa this afternoon. A copy of the permit is attached below.
According to the permit, Occupy Iowa participants may continuously occupy the West Capitol Terrace outside the statehouse through 11 p.m. Thursday. Protesters may stay overnight, but must also provide a portable toilet and allow access to the site by others not affiliated with the protest They may not use sidewalk chalk on the grounds or deface state property in any way ...
