Gronstal pending endorsement
Now that we know Gronstal intends on endorsing a candidate (http://www.radioiowa.com/gestalt/go.cfm?objectid=6D569D53-0D0B-4DE7-ACC97EEB5901B83), do you think Cityview is on the mark in their past reports that Gronstal will endorse Blouin?
I would be surprised if he didn't, the Vilsack-Grontstal-Blouin love triangle seems strong.

1. Could be
In speaking with some members of the GLBT community who recently dined with Blouin they were shocked that he kept talking about their "sexual preference". I hope someone corrects him before he alienates a core voting block of the party. That term is offensive and he should know better.

Hm, that's interesting. I hope that changes.

3. Hasn't he already alienated one group?
Women who believe in a woman's right to her own reproductive health care decisions (no matter what the Catholic Church says?)

Blouin cannot keep being a hard-right Catholic and believe in Women's reproductive health care rights and sexual orientation equality.

Again, I support Culver, so maybe I just have a chip on my shoulder (or maybe I'm worried that Blouin may be the most conservative candidate out there...:scared:)

4. Lol, but a chip well placed by the sounds of it!

I have to admit that I haven't been paying a lot of close attention just yet to our gubernatorial candidates, but from the sounds of it Blouin sounds like he is making a few too many blunders this early in the race.

This all suprises me, because having my ears to the ground in my area I have actually heard a lot of good things about Blouin (and by people that I look to as intelligent decision makers). Perhaps it is a matter of perspective. Those that I spoke with are big on business development.

From the little I have heard here at DU it seems that Blouin is tied with big business give-aways of the type that most progressives can't stomach. Couple that with a aversion to a woman's choice and now a social blunder in the GLBT community and this guy is framing himself more and more as one of "them".

I will leave my official opinion out of things for now, at least until I learn more about everyone, but I am sure leaning away from this guy so far.

5. Any of our candidates would still be better than Nussle/Vander Plaats
but I don't think Blouin should be anointed just because he's Vilsack's favorite.

We have a right to choose the best Democratic candidate out there....one who espouses the most Democratic beliefs and adheres to the Party's principles while being able to run a campaign and raise enough money to take on the republican mud-slinging machine.

You're wise to wait it out, who knows how many will drop out/join in before the filing deadline.

6. Great advice
I too think we all need to wait things out here. I don't think we will have as many candidates as this primary campaign moves forward. I think a candidate or two will not officially join the race and another may end up running for another office or take a place as lt. gov. in return for bowing out.
