Seldon is really a terrific candidate. For all the desperation we were going through, we ended up with a terrific progressive with a very impressive background. He worked with Cesar Chavez's United Farm Workers grape boycott, protested the Vietnam War, worked for refugees in Ethiopia, Habitat for Humanity, Job Corps, Presbyterian Deacon, physician across much of the 4th District, etc. He is sharp and sincere, and not a politician, which I think helps against a corrupt, empty suit like Latham. But then again he needs lots of help. Please volunteer!
Anyone living in district 4 could help this week with getting signatures. Unfortunately, the Spencer for Congress website is not up yet, but I do have a pdf file that I could mail you that has a one-page biography. Just e-mail me.
Also, I could send you a pdf file that has the signature petition. You could also download that from the Secretary of State's office. Only page 3 from the pdf file is needed for the petition.
You only have to be eligible to vote (by Nov. 2006) and a resident of the particular county to sign the petition. Registration and Democratic Party affiliation are not needed. Residents of each county need to sign off on separate sheets.
Even if you can just get a handful of signatures, it would help. Remember, residents of only one county on each petition. The petitions must be filed March 17, so you need to get them to his people early next week. I can provide an address.
I might have the county conventions that Seldon Spencer (or surrogates) will be attending this Saturday, and I may be able to share those with you later. Let me know if there are questions about your county.
