Iowa races make the NY Times....
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/06/politics/06cong.html?_r=1&oref=login

<snip>

In Iowa, Jeff Lamberti, the Republican co-president of the State Senate, who is challenging Representative Leonard L. Boswell, a Democrat, said: "I'm not particularly concerned that the Third Congressional seat will be determined by some kind of nationalization of the election. The people of Iowa are going to make their decision based on who the candidates are on the ballot, how hard you work and how you connect with them."

<snip>

(And a congrats to the Braley team for getting their candidate in a national publication...that took some work)

1. Jesus, I wish Loebsack were getting some press like that.
Thinking Loebsack has a great shot, but it would sure be nice to see someone pick it up nationally. I think it could be the upset of the election.
Iowa would look so good with at least 3 Dem reps!

2. I agree, I think Loebsack has a great chance and the only reason
he hasn't seen more press is that Leach has been in so long that anyone who runs against him is likened to a lamb led to slaughter by the Party. This time I think they're mistaken.

3. Leach pulls off that gentlemanly moderate republican act

very well however. He has it down to a fine art. Democrats have sounded shrill and tinny in comparison. It must be in the realm of possibility that Democrats could similarly perfect Olympian detachment, to somehow project an aura of incarnate wisdom to sway the voters to a true concern for justice and equality. And in so doing, quietly display in utter disdain and contempt, James Leach's actual voting record. How hard woudl that be?
