The Democratic National Committee’s Rules and Bylaws Committee will meet in Washington on Saturday to consider recommendations that could diminish the impact of the New Hampshire first-in-the-nation primary.
The DNC Presidential nominating calendar commission suggested in December that:
One or two caucuses be scheduled between Iowa’s leadoff 2008 caucus on Jan. 14, 2008, and New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary eight days later.
One or two primaries be slotted after New Hampshire but before the Feb. 5, 2008, opening of a national “window” allowing all states to hold events.
<snip>
Read the whole article to get a feel for where this is headed. Yes, Iowa will still go 'first', however there may be a "caucus" in between Iowa and New Hampshire (and since Vilsack is running in Iowa and thepresumptivee winner many will not give Iowa any attention or very little). Or there may be a primary right after New Hampshire prompting New Hampshire to move ahead, maybe even jumping over Iowa. Yes, it is State Law that we go first and eight days before New Hampshire - or any other contest - but it would be up to the State Party Chair to move Iowa.....Now Kiddies, who is the State Party Chair???
Potentially we could be screwed.
And FYI, who sits on the DNC rules committee?? Our State Party Chair, shit!!!!! wonder how she'll vote!!! :grr:
