Who is a delegate to District Conventions next weekend?
I am a delegate at the 4th District Convention in Ft. Dodge. I am excited because it is my first convention and Russ Feingold will be at a fundraiser for Selden Spencer afterwards.

Who else is a delegate to their convention?

3. I'll be at the 2nd District with Maggie
Although not too close, because standing by beautiful Maggie always makes me look worse. :D

It should be interesting since we are going to do a nomination process.

6. I'm sure you'll meet at least two of us

I won't stand too close to the lovely Cornfield, though; it always makes me look overdone and a little bit tartish in comparison. :silly:

Looking forward to seeing you there!

edited to add: if anyone else from the second district would like to attend as an alternate, my guess is that they will end up as delegates. If you've never been to a convention, come on down (and vote for Dave Loebsack)! PM me if you'd like to know the location and time.

13. LOL -- I just saw this
My dearest Maggie, 'tartish' is never a word I would use to describe you. Intelligent, caring, spirited... oh, that one reminds me... Did I tell you that on Tuesday night at a WFPI subcommittee meeting one of your partners in crime seemed to be planning your next big adventure? There was talk about tossing water balloons into traffic or creating some sort of fake landmines. (Yeah, that last one caught me off-guard too - LOL!) Thanks so much for introducing me to that group. I enjoy them and the work they do very much.

For the record... I meant the comment as a total compliment. I never really understood all those female posturing competition things. We're all beautiful.

Damn! I feel a poem coming on...

I'll stand by Maggie with a sign.
She'll have her bullhorn and I'll have mine.
We'll march and yell til our throats wear out.
The insanity must end -- It's beyond any doubt.

And when that day finally arrives,
we'll all stand together with those who survive.
The troops have come home, but there's still more to do.
There's more for Maggie; more for me; and even for you.

Our money, all gathered for the public good,
has not been being spent as it should.
Billons for missles, tanks, guns and war.
Done in our name! So much to be sorry for.

What would happen if we only took half?
Would it level the budget bar graph?
Just half each year would be $221 billion
Healthcare, schools and jobs all pumped up by millions.

Our brothers and sisters throughout this nation
finally ready to end the sickening aberration
who stands and speaks of freedom and peace
while reaching in his pocket to massage his own fleece.

Until that day comes you now know what I'll do.
I'll stand and I'll fight, even risking a coup.
My rhyming has limits, but don't misunderstand
Maggie and I will take a firm stand.

25. :) You know it!
Now if I can figure out a tune to set your words to, we can have Frederick accompany us on his harmonica for the next Linn County Dems meeting.

 (Now who is being silly?)

5. I'm a delegate to the 1st District - but sadly we won't be attending
We already turned in our booklets to let an alternate attend in our place.

Bummer because 1st District has a four-way primary for Congress and would be good to get to see all the candidates together.

8. Woo hoo!
Thanks to Ms Maggie, I will be at the 2nd District convention this Saturday! She was able to hook me up with the name/number of a delegate who isn't able to attend, so I should be able to get her packet.

Seth... Tyler Olson (running for HD 38) sat close by at the meeting last night. He gave me a big smile and said hello. What did I do in response? "Hi! Are you Seth?"

I've heard that you are a member of the CC... one day I'm sure I'll see you at a meeting. :D

11. Ha!
Yeah, yeah...I am a member of the CC in absentia. I will get there someday, I HAVE TO, hopefully they don't give me the boot in the meantime. I just have so much going on and so little time. I will definitely be around more once things start to pick up a little.

You really made me laugh with your Tyler incident. What did he say? Way to steal his thunder! I like Tyler, he is a good guy who could really be a future star for the Dems.

Oh, and even though I've never met you in person, you will have my vote for State Central Committee! It'd be nice to know an insider so I know how the heck some decisions are made.

12. Thank you!
I'm up against some ladies who are pretty well known throughout the district, so I'm not at all sure what my chances are. Still, I know it is something I want to do, if not now than in the future... I'll let you read the rest of it on my flyer Saturday. (No need spoiling the great suspense, right?)

Tyler took my mistake much better than I did. I proceeded into one of those palm meets forehead "duh" moments. He just smiled bigger and enjoyed my obvious humiliation. I've decided I will call no one else by a name until I've double-checked their nametag from now on.

14. Oh piss.
Well, I called my hook-up for the convention booklet and she had already given it away last night.

So I am back to not going unless I can find someone between now and Saturday to fork one over. I am really not wanting to drive all the way there just hoping to be seated as a delegate and then end up having screwed my Saturday away.

Boo freakin hoo.

I sent an email out to see if there are any others we know about. I'll send you a note if something comes up.

Honestly? You should just go. There are always people who do not show.

17. Yeah, you're tellin me...
I sent an email out to a few folks that I thought would be able to help as well, so we will see what happens. I am still considering driving down to see if I can get in, but I would be insanely upset if I didn't get in and wasted all that time. I suppose if it was nice out I could bring a fishing pole and go on the hunt for a local hole.

Oh hey, are you going to the Loebsack event tomorrow evening?

19. I really want to go tomorrow
Since I've left my family alone for the past four nights and I'll be gone all day Saturday and taking the Girl Scout Troop out on Sunday, I'm a bit afraid my husband might disown me.

If you don't get in, I could bring the GPS and point you to some area geocaches. :D

16. Well, Seth - why don't you call your county chair?
Also remember that you don't have to be seated as a Linn Co. Dem at District Convention - just as a Second District Dem. The chances are HIGH that you'll be seated.

If You'd GO to the Feingold events Friday afternoon & eve I bet you'd find someone who was listed as a delegate that isn't going.......c'mon Seth....be social. :P

Hey I am TRYIN to be social, but I can't find anyone that I hang out with that is even remotely interested, and I really do hate to go anywhere alone. I think I may have an issue with that!? I suppose I may just suck it up and go, but I went alone to one event and it sucked.

I would take time off work and meet ya down in IC, but the schedule is booked. Damn co-workers.

On edit: Oh yeah, I emailed my county chair, so there!

22. If there are open seats and you are eligible (a registered Dem and live
in the District) you can be seated as a delegate - at least I THINK that's how it goes - any rules-smiths out there who really know?

What the Party wants is as many active participants as possible - although we definitely do a service by shaping the platform, what we really do at these conventions is fire up the activists - and the more activists the better!!!

:bounce:
