While Rep. King spouts racism ... look what happens

Hundreds of Siouxlanders will lose their jobs when the MCI center in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa closes its doors this summer. Company officials told the 569 workers at the center Friday morning that the operation will be shut down at the end of June.

It's part of a larger plan by MCI owner Verizon to eliminate 16-hundred jobs nationwide. The Sergeant Bluff center is losing more jobs than any other facility. 44 employees, engaged in work unrelated to the call center, will be retained at the Sergeant Bluff facility.

So, Rep. King, what are you going to do to help these people? Bashing hard working immigrants and racially profiling will not help the hundreds of families devastated by this news. Hopefully people will vote their own self-interest in 2006 and not vote on god, guns, gays, and gringo-politics.

My sympathy to the people hurt by this loss of quality, white collar jobs in metro Sioux City.
