June Meetup
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 10:20 PM by proud2Blib
Our next meetup is one week from tonight (June 15) at South Park in Lawrence. We will be entertained by MuseRider and her band playing Sousa music. The band starts at 8:00. They will be playing in the gazebo on the east side of Mass St. After the band concert, we will go for drinks, etc at one of Lawrence's fine establishments.

So come one, come all, bring your families and friends.

KC Duers, we have had DUers from Lawrence and Topeka and Leavenworth coming to KC all year for our meetups. We thought it would be considerate of us to meet them in KS. I hope you will all be there with us a week from tonight.

:yourock: :toast: :hippie: :bounce:

5. I love a good Sousa. Now I hear it in my head, thanks a lot.
I will try to be there. I have some obligations. Do I need a blanket a chair bug spray (screw the environment, bugs suck me dry) sunglasses because you all are bright?

Lovely idea. Keep posting about it if you will, and thanks. I know how to get to the campus and to Mass Street.

7. Blankets and chairs, yes.
Bug spray, yes probably if you get bit a lot. You will be facing West so yes, sunglasses too.

South Park is down Mass just South of downtown. ComerPerro said he would provide directions. I could easily get it mixed up since I travel Lawrence by landmark mostly. Parking is a bit of a problem so come early if you can.

8. Is there a particular meeting site?
Should we just look for each other or should try to gravitate to the same area? A few of my friends from DFA and other radical groups wanted to come by and join us. I told them that, as far as I knew, we'd all just find each other there.

Make sure to bring blankets and/or lawn/camping chairs. According to Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department, alcohol is allowed. They said 3.2 in cans, they don't like bottles. Here's a link to the band's website: http://www.lawrencecityband.com/lcb/

See you all tonight!

16. We managed to hook up
A few of us DU'ers (put out, comer, proud, proud's son, muserider and I) mananged to find each other. Put out was the only one who got to meet one of my friends, but the rest of them met one of my other buddies. She We went to a buffalo wings place downtown and hung out. We were joined later by my hubby who missed the concert because he was teaching last night.

Sorry we missed you but it wasn't hard with that crowd last night. It was a huge turn out and was larger than usual. I had no idea that Sousa was such a big draw. Of course, the weather was fantastic and that usually increases the number of those in attendance.

If we meet at one of the concerts again we should really make arrangements to meet in a particular area or have signs.

Anyway, I had a great time and always feel at home with this crowd. Heopefully we got a couple of new DU'ers on board as a result of yesterday's meeting.

20. Hey Mabus
Great to see you and to meet your friend. :woohoo: She needs to join DU.

Yes, let's do this again next week. We can agree on a particular meeting spot. How about over by the fountain where Comer and I were?

I like the idea of being a Lawrence Band groupie. Maybe I am getting old but the thought really appeals to me. :)

Oh and don't forget Jazz our DU dog on the official attendance list. She had a great time but is kinda hung over today. (I guess we are too wild for her)

A Lawrence City Band groupie! YAY! That must be a first, well maybe not but the others are getting way old, did you see all those in the front row? You are so funny. We should get you a Tee Shirt...Official LCB Groupie!

25. Uh yeah we did notice the front row
and you saw where we chose to sit - behind the stage.

All good groupies know that backstage is where all the action is.

28. No problemo
That was for Comer.

So does my friend that Put Out met.

Sounds like a deal. We meet by the fountain. You guys were sitting just south of it so it should be easy to find.

As for being a band groupie, I can do that. My cousin is in the band along with MuseRider. Because of her, I've been an unofficial band groupie for years.

I didn't mention Jazz in my earlier post because, well, i figured if I didn't mention her it would keep her alibi options open. ;-)

29. Jazz is in trouble tonight
So she lost her right to an alibi.

And she destroyed Comer's frisbee last night. We are taking the cost of a new one out of her allowance.
