1. AmyStrange, a question
I've been seeing what appears to be dozens of posts in state and country forums on bodies being found, serial killers, etc. While you may have a perfectly reasonable explanation for the apparent fixation, I have to admit it is a little unusual to be posting this on a political forum. Given the anonymity of posting, I can't help but find it a bit disturbing. What is your goal in doing so?

2. Missing persons deserve...

...as much democratic consideration and justice as any other person.

Personally, I think they deserve it more so, because their voices (unless they are a young white college kid or white clean-cut mostly female rich person - for example, Smart, Sjodin, Levy, Peterson, Hacking etc.) are rarely heard from or written about or acknowledged in any way shape or form.

Do you know how many persons went missing in California at about the same time as Laci Peterson? Two that I know of specifically. One was hispanic (and also pregnant and also found murdered not too long AFTER Laci) and another was a prostitute, but guess which was talked about incessantly by the media?

Finally, missing persons and serial killers are an example of why the budgets of LE should be raised (and not ONLY for homeland security) which is A VERY POLITICAL subject - in my opinion,

4. I certainly don't argue your point....
Perhaps if you preface your posts with that explanation, you'd get more response.

You could also think about starting a running thread in the meeting room where things run a little more slowly to discuss how we can effectively address this problem. Just a thought....

5. You make some darn good points...

and thanx for your input and ideas, and I REALLY DO appreciate it, and I WILL DEFINITELY and seriously consider them, but right now I got hundreds of missing person/ serial killer related articles to catch up on from the last week (most of which I won't post in the DU),

3. Besides the Lounge...

talks about more Off Topic subjects so why doesn't anyone complain about that more. Not complaining about your question at all, because I appreciate your inquisitiveness,

6. I actually find subjects like this fascinating....While DU is primarily
political in nature, people post on everything from archeology to pop culture, books to recipes. I don't see anything particularly out-of-place with the occasional missing persons/serial killer thread. In fact, I consider them a very valid, and frightening aspect of modern society

7. If you want info on BTK, look up the Wichita Wagle archives.
They should have tons of stuff. Also, KAKE channel 10 (the ABC affliate here) has long been his choice for the local tv media outlets. He sends things to the Eagle and KAKE when he wants attention.
