40. 1/17 Howard Dean in KCMO to meet with Dem Bond Holders
Hi all.

(This is my first post) I am the Deputy Director of the DNC's new Grassroots Fundraising Group and
formerly from the KC metro area. I wanted to let all of you know about this event.

The Kansas City Democracy Bond Holder Meeting is open to anyone that has
purchased a DNC Democracy Bond. It is being held at the Uptown Theater
from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
Bond-holders can bring one guest each.
Buy and RSVP at:
https://www.democrats.org/page/contribute/bondsks
RSVP if you are already a bond holder here: http://www.democrats.org/kcbondsmeeting

A DNC Democracy Bond is a monthly financial commitment to the Democratic
National Committee. The smallest increment for a bond is $10/month.

>From the DNC web-site:

The Democracy Bonds community is the flip-side of the 50-state strategy;
in order to put organizers on the ground in every state and build a
permanent party infrastructure where there hasn't been one for decades,
it takes sound financial planning and a sustained commitment of
resources. We can't afford to have a boom-and-bust operation that pops
up every two or four years in a few key states. We have to build a
permanent presence everywhere, and Democracy Bonds make that possible.

What's more, by funding this unprecedented organizing strategy with
small monthly donations from ordinary Americans, the Democracy Bonds
community provides a sharp contrast to the the insidious Republican
culture of corruption that has recently begun to unravel. We saw in
court filings this week how Republican leaders raise money: in exchange
for putting statements in the Congressional Record, or granting federal
contracts, or expensive golf trips to Scotland.

2. Whew - basketball alert (warning - pics)
Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 10:24 PM by Mabus
Misread it at first, thought you meant this Wednesday which would have been bad because KU is playing Colorado.

Here's the rest of KU's basketball schedule (pre-post-season tournament play).

Wednesday Jan. 11 (@Colorado)
Saturday Jan. 14 (Kansas State)
Monday Jan. 16 (@ Missouri)
Saturday Jan. 21 (Nebraska)
Wednesday Jan. 25 (@Texas A&M)
Saturday Jan. 28 (@Iowa State)
Monday Jan. 30 (Texas Tech)
Sunday Feb. 5 (Oklahoma)
Wednesday Feb. 8 (@Nebraska)
Saturday Feb. 11 (Iowa State)
Monday Feb. 13 (@Oklahoma State)
Saturday Feb. 18 (Missouri)
Tuesday Feb. 21 (Baylor)
Saturday Feb. 25 (@Texas)
Wednesday Mar. 1 (Colorado)
Saturday Mar. 4 (@Kansas State)

Below are some pictures I took when my baby brother (6'8") and I were visiting Coach in his office.
1.> 2.> 3.> 4.> 5.>

1. Bro and Danny Manning
2. Bro and Sasha Kaun
3. Coach in his office
4. Bro and Coach with one of Bro's paintings.
5. Coach in his office again

In case you haven't guessed, I love KU basketball. FWIW, I've only missed (at most) three games in the last 20+ years. I missed one because I was out of the country, one because I was medicated and I slept through most of it and one because (and I cannot believe this myself) I spaced it out (although I did see the replay later that evening).

edited to add warning that there were pictures.

4. I'm planning on it
The husband might be able to make it too. I know he teaches on Tuesday afternoons/early evenings.

I'm trying to compete with UK's Ashley Judd for most rabid basketball femme fatale. I think I'm winning - the Jayhawks have won the last four games I've gone to.

8. I just wanted Pat to be fair
I called to make sure he would issue a statement listing the sins that Cheney committed that have led to his continued bad health. I don't want Pat (or his God) to stop. I just want Pat to treat a member of the GOP the same way he has been treating Sharon (divided God's land), 9/11 (blamed gays and others), Hugo Chavez(called for his assassination), etc.

I mean, how are the rest of the GOP going to get to rapture if they don't know that being a megalomaniacal asshole is wrong?

13. If there's a rock and roll heaven
If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band

Jimmy gave us rainbows
And Janis took a piece of our hearts
And Otis brought us all to the dock of a bay
Sing a song to light my fire
Remember Jim that way
They've all found another place
Another place to play

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band

Remember bad bad Leroy Brown
Hey Jimmy touched us with that song
Time won't change a friend we came to know
And Bobby gave us Mack the Knife
Well look out, he's back in town
They'll all be there together
When they meet in one big show

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band

There's a spotlight waiting
No matter who you are
'Cause everybody's got a song to sing
Everyone's a star
(Everybody's got to be a star)

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band
