As of 4:00pm Friday...
Negotiations are still underway with the Secret Service concerning the
exact locations of the Bush protest sites. We have requested the
grassy area on the east and west sides of Bramlage, however Fred Phelps
has also requested space and, quite frankly, we do not want to be were
he is.
One thing we do know is that protesters will be required to say they are
“with MAPJ” or “with NOW” to gain access to the protest sites from the
Secret Service personnel and from the KSU and Riley County Police
Department officers.
Parking: We have received permission from College Avenue Methodist
Church, 1609 College Avenue and Peace Lutheran Church, 2500 Kimball, to
use their parking lots. College Avenue's is in front of the church and
the Peace Lutheran parking lot is behind the church. Peace Lutheran
will accommodate more cars. In addition, in the neighborhood to the
west of College Avenue there will be some possibility of parking.
PLEASE obey all traffic signs concerning parking in that neighborhood.
THERE CAN BE ABSOLUTELY NO protesting on church property. Please keep
your signs down until after you are off church proterty.
This is a NONVIOLENT Protest. Participants will not respond to
provocations, cat-calls, etc., nor shall they engage in such acts
towards those attending the speech.
People who drum, are encouraged to bring their drum with them.
PLEASE REFER to the MAPJ website for updates:
