Former congressional candidate Taff gets 15-month prison term
He couldn't even wait until he was elected to be corrupt. From the Kansas City Star:

Former congressional candidate Taff gets 15-month prison term

By ROBERT A. CRONKLETON

A federal judge sentenced former congressional candidate Adam Taff today to 15 months in prison for wire fraud and misusing campaign funds in a mortgage-fraud case.

Taff and co-defendant John D. Myers pleaded guilty in November to one count each of wire fraud that occurred when Myers sold Taff his house in Lake Quivira for $1.2 million. Taff also pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Federal Election Campaign Act by misusing election money to obtain a mortgage loan for the home.

. . .

Taff was a once a rising Republican star and a serious contender for a U.S. congressional seat. In 2002, he ran as the Republican candidate for the Kansas 3rd Congressional District against U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore, a Democrat, and came closer than any previous contender had come to upsetting Moore.

In 2004, Taff narrowly lost a second attempt to run against Moore when Kris Kobach, a law professor, won the GOP primary. Kobach later lost to Moore.

They did a much longer story. It was mentioned that Taff got teary eyed as he plead for a short sentence.

Thank gawd this man didn't get elected to Congress.

Another crooked politician goes down. :woohoo:

3. Not a big surprise, but it still made me smile.
He had enough power to be corrupt, but not quite enough power to get away with it!

5. So, the next time someone asks "What's the matter with Kansas?"
I can say, "Nothing that we aren't cleaning up. We're jailing the lying bastards. What about your state?"
