Anyone else get a copy of "The Democrat" today?
The Democrat Vol. 1, No. 1, a quarterly newspaper from the Kansas Democratic Party, arrived in my mailbox today. Pretty sweet stuff. Eight pages of nothing but Democratic news. Stories are written by Regional Field Coordinators (with contact info), state legislators, Dennis Moore and our own Democratic governor. There was a nice write-up about Paul Morrison the AG candidate. The best part was on page 6 where there is a listing of Democratic candidates running for offices in 2006!

Did anyone else get a copy? What do you think of it? I like it. I really like it. This is a great idea.

1. Wow, how do you get one?
I would like to see it. I wonder if I can find it online. Thanks for the heads up.

Hey, how are you? I miss you, it has been months since I saw you last. We MUST remedy it soon.

3. That's what we were trying to figure out
We got one. It was addressed to the both of us. Rex got one. I don't know how they decided to send them out or to whom. My initial hope was that every registered Democrat got one. Rex suggested that people who donated to the party would get one but we haven't donated directly to the party for a while, we usually send money directly to the candidates or MoveOn.

I've missed you too. Are you going to make it to evl's on St. Patrick's Day?

5. I'm not sure yet
if I will make it. I hope so but I better figure it out pretty soon.

Well, since we are no longer Democrats we will most likely not get one. I will look online or ask one of my friends if I can see one because at heart I am still a D. I have several friends who work for the Governor and they could probably score one for us.

4. Sort of
Did the e-mail say anything about this paper? "The voice of the people of Kansas" is its tagline.

6. I Received a Copy
I also received a copy. I agree with your review, Mabus. By the way, the Sedgwick County Demo. Party is holding a press conference next Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 pm - any Wichita DUers who can come please do - at our Party HQtes at 1062 N. Waco. We will be announcing the candidacies of 4 Democrats who will be challenging incumbent Kansas House members - and these Republicans are all neocons: Steve Brunk, Don Myers, Dick Kelsey and Ty Masterson. We will have another press conference within 30 days to announce our next wave of challengers.

A couple of these candidates were mentioned in The Democrat: Charles Mahoney (Ty Masterson) and Jeff Boone (Don Myers).

I think I know how you got on the list but I'm not sure what we managed to make it.

8. Wish I Could Say
it was me. It shoulda been me, but wasn't. Are either you or your hubby a precinct committee worker? The good news is that the Party is communicating with you, whether you asked or not. This is part of the long-term mission in Kansas for the Demo. Party - to reach out to people who think like Democrats, whether so registered or not, and by actions as well as words demonstrate that the Party is a meaningful option in Kansas, much as you all have proven in Douglas Cty.
