Exposing another idiotic repukelican
This is a statement made in public by Virgil Peck, a repukelican state rep from Tyro, KS. He admits killing animals because you you "just decide you want to kill it". And he admits killing a neighbor's pet and lying to the neighbor about that. Some moral values, eh??

PECK: I want to piggy back on that which is different from the original question; Being a country boy, my understanding, and I haven’t read the bill and it is just getting over to the house and there are so many bills are taking our immediate attention and we get to them when they’re immediate attention and the Senator would correct me if I’m wrong I would hope he would correct me. My frustration from what I understand about this bill, if you have a dog that you cannot keep it in your proximity or you just decide you want to kill it or dispose of it, country people we just take ‘em out and shoot ‘em. Or if you got a neighbors dog that is constantly coming over and hassling your livestock and you have had some conversations with the neighbor, “hey keep your dog away from my livestock, my hogs, my goats , my sheep, my cattle, whatever, my chicken.” Country people, me, I’ve been known in the past, after several attempts, to just dispose of the dog one way or the ‘nother, well I’m concerned that this may be far reaching, that the fellow, the neighbor gets upset cause his dog comes up missing, I don’t know what happened to it, well I actually do, but, so that’s a little concern I have as a country boy. You know I’m not the one that’s ‘spose to be asking questions you folks are.

2. He is admitting that he kills dogs
and when they belong to his neighbor, he lies about killing them.

The only good thing I can think of is that I didn't vote for this idiot and I am thankfully not one of his constituents.

4. I assume there is some kind of context.
Am I assuming wrong? That's what I'm confused about.

6. Go to the link
He is a state rep and was at a meeting discussing the animal cruelty law proposed in Kansas. Some of the less intelligent rural reps are afraid this law will prevent them from shooting their neighbor's dog when it invades their property.

7. "Scruffy's Law" makes animal cruelty a felony
It was abig deal this year when several puppies were found tortured in Wichita.

8. There was a notorious case in KCK
I believe that was a dog named Scruffy.

9. Yeah the law is named after that. It was actually a few years ago.
Then the case this past year in Wichita revived the push for the law to be passed. It was never changed from Scruffy's Law. The dog here was named Malcolm I think. If I remember there were several puppies and only one lived.

10. Animal Cruelty is a Felony but not Carrying a Concealed Weapon While Drunk
Regardless whether you support Scruffy's Law or not, it is interesting to juxtapose this felony with carrying a concealed weapon while drunk under the new law (Governor's veto overridden). If a concealed weapon licensee is caught 3 times carrying a weapon in public while drunk or stoned, it is still only a misdemeanor. Three offenses of driving a car while drunk is a felony, and properly so. But why not carrying weapons while drunk?

5. I've heard other old farmers say the same kind of thing...
but they weren't state reps! I've read that little speech several times now, and still have no idea what he's talking about. Sure doesn't sound like a Dem, though. ;)
