We recently learned that AG Kline spent over 2 million in taxpayer money for outside legal consulting costs - a big chunk of which - $152,700 went to Vincent Rue, who is a national anti-choice advocate. Most of that money went to pay for "expert" witnesses in the federal court lawsuit still pending a decision in Wichita. This is the same lawsuit where Kline testified that boys performing oral sex on girls were commiting a crime, but not girls doing the reverse. It is a sham to claim this money was needed for "expert" witnesses. Instead, this money was just a clandestine way to give taxpayer dollars to Kline's extreme, right-wing political friends and idealogues.
And any claim that AG Stovall spent similar amounts of money is comparing apples to oranges, as her water lawsuit against Colorado is all about basic human and governmental needs for water. And her tobacco lawsuit brought millions of dollars back to Kansas to be spent for improving children's health and education. These are legit goals of good government, and Carla Stovall should be proud of this record.
Kline's spendthrift activities are not designed to do anything except improve his chances for reelection. Fat chance there.
